Faroese Horse Heiða - Postcard Size A6
Size A6 ( 10,5 cm x 14,8 cm )
Heiða is one of only 83 Faroese Horses left in the world -Heiða lives on our farm and is currently mainly being used in equine therapy mainly for our daughter with special needs.
There have always been horses on the Faroe Islands. The geographical remoteness in the North Atlantic Ocean forced the Faroese horse to adapt to its surroundings. Only the horses that could withstand the weather survived and the Faroe Islands became home to horse breed that was strong, hardy and agile. Hanusarstova farm works on preserving, marketing and saving this wonderful breed and any purchase of merch with horses goes directly into our work with the breed.
The pictures are all taken and edited by Harriet Olafsdóttir.
The sheep are all her own sheep, being a farmer in the small village of Æðuvík.
All postcards will be printed and shipped from The Faroe Islands.
Showing the beauty of The Faroe Islands through my creativity has always been a dream of mine.
Living in this place surrounded by harsh seas, strong winds and dark winters photography started as a way to look for beauty in everything. Growing up in a small town as a farmers daughter, animals have always been close to my heart. Through this series I want to show the natural beauty and soul of these majestic creatures.
