Foal Fund - Alda
On Sunday the 29th of June our beautiful Faroese mare foal Alda was born - she is daughter to our Sif and the father is Dropi from Anna Louisa.
Alda is the first of our own breeding on the farm 🇫🇴 Alda is one of only 89 Faroese horses in the world, a rare gem that has an important role in the survival of our precious heritage breed, that’s now on the edge close to be extinct.
Alda means wave in Faroese - Finding a name starting with A, marking the first letter of the alphabet and the first of our own breeding was easy this time around. I’ve always liked the name Alda and also it is very representative of this village known for it’s big and powerful waves right by or barn and the horses home 🌊
We are planning on keeping Alda on the farm, but in order to do that we need to start saving funds now already, because another horse on the farm means another BIG expense.
We often get asked how you can help our important work on the farm, especially regarding the Faroese Horses - by donating to our foal fund you help us pay for the care and feeding of Alda - that to us is a great help and deeply appreciated.
Everyone who donates will get a personal thank you card sent to their address and also put on the email list with updates and pictures of Alda once a month.
Also you will be put on the list of sponsors for our little Alda as a show of our deep appreciation 🥰
